BLACKWOLF SELECT FROSH UPDATE

Blackwolf Frosh team made an excellent debut over the weekend at the Bulldog Lacrosse Classic at Yale University. The team went 4-0 with some impressive wins over a very talented Yorktown, NY team and other select clubs from Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Frosh roster will be posted soon.

UMBC RECAP

Blackwolf Select made the Final Four at the UMBC Shootout. Considering that this was the teams first tournament and the team was unable to practice together, they played extremely well. Blackwolf pulled off two upset wins in the playoffs to advance to the final four. In the semi final game, they came up just short of sending the game into overtime. Down 8-9 with 3 seconds left, attackman Harrison Chaires had a great dodge off the end line and sent a nice feed to the streaking midfielder Jimmy Marlett, but his shot hit the pipe.

BLACKWOLF SELECT

Blackwolf Select is an "invitation only" team with recommendations coming from H.S. coaches and/or the Blackwolf staff personally evaluating players (Please use the form at bottom of this page to make a recommendation). There are no "open tryouts" for Blackwolf Select. Based on coaches recommendations and evaluations, we will select 25 players. One of our goals is to have the players on this team gain the same exposure as the top select teams throughout the country. We will also strive to have the talent level that is truly select to assist EVERY player with exposure, not just one or two "marquee" players who may or may not be seen. Players will not be required to play only for Blackwolf, but they will be required to attend ALL practices and scrimmages. If there may be scheduling conflicts, we recommend that a player not seek or accept an invitation. Invites will be open to all players, rising sophomores-rising seniors, although it is possible for freshmen to make the team, they will have to be a true "phenom".

We will also require a minimum GPA of 2.5 that all players must have to make the team. This, we expect, will show the players that more than just playing lacrosse can assist in getting them into the college they would like to attend, and keep them there. We want this to be something that college coaches will recognize immediately that this player is someone who's academic standing we need not to be concerned with if he is playing for Blackwolf. We believe strongly that these young men need goals and direction in order to improve and strive for success. Please be advised that these invites will be extended based purely on GPA and on field performance. We will assist our players and parents at any time and in any way possible with college recruiting and contacting the schools our players are interested in attending. Remember, that being proactive in recruiting can be extremely helpful.

COACHES

HEAD COACH

Joe Trigiani (Coach Trig)

(Defensive Coordinator/Goalie Coach- Notre Dame Academy 2006-2007, VISAA State Champions-2007 )
Highly regarded for being a student of the game, Coach Trig is known for his innovative

coaching strategies, his immense energy and his ability to coach any position on the field.

Drawing on his experience as part of multiple WCAC championship teams he played on at

DeMatha Catholic High School under Hall of Fame coach Dick Long, he strives to teach every

player the game as he learned it. Having lost the opportunity to play Division 1 lacrosse due to

injury, he gives all his energy to the players he now coaches and teaches them the techniques

and the understanding of discipline and hard work they will need to succeed. Coach Trig

has played lacrosse in both the ALL and USCLA at attack, long stick midfield and defense.

ASSISTANT COACHES

Scott Pugh

(2008 WCAC COACH OF THE YEAR)

Coach Pugh is one of the most talented and knowledgeable coaches in the game today.

He is an excellent teacher and has a great mind for the game. Coach Pugh puts forth

immense time and effort in helping every player achieve their goals.

Having lead one of the strongest programs in the country gives Coach Pugh

the leadership qualities that will help this team be successful.

J.D. Harkey

Currently plays for Division 1 UMBC. A 2006 USILA High School All-American

Washington Post All-Metro selection. The 2006 Dulles District Player of the Year.

Three-time First Team All Dulles District.
